I remember watching Newsies as a kid and loving the movie. It’s dirty, it’s gritty, and tells the story of a group of newsies who are dreaming about a life away from the streets. The movie has been been adapted in a Broadway Musical and Fanthom Events with Disney Theatrical Productions released a special in theater experience of the show earlier this year.
We’re huge fans of musical adaptation and were happy to experience Newsies The Musical in theaters while it was touring, and now the story is available on DVD and Digital HD. Not only did Disney make sure we got to experience the musical, but sent us a fantastic kit to share it with our friends. We got a digital copy of the movie and an amazing kit to share with everyone. From hats like the Newsies wear, drawing pads, fantastic sketching pencils, magnets, a show poster, Newsies the Musical Soundtrack and even Chromecast so we could easily connect to our devices to enjoy the show.
With all of our supplies on hand we invited friends over for a night to enjoy the magic that Newsies the Musical is and had the heart that the original movie had as well. Are all of our sketches masterpieces? No, but that wasn’t the point. We started to dream, we are ready to Seize the Day – and move past where we are.
