We all have our favorite vacation destinations, where we can close our eyes and imagine we are there. For our family, it’s usually Mackinac Island. From the hustling and bustle of the streets filled with horse drawn carriages and tourists. Filled with history and attractions it’s hard to find a quiet place on the main street of the island.
With beautiful weather, the cooler temps are often enough to draw thousands of people up to the island on any given weekend. While the draw of the fudge shops and shopping is attractive to most, sometimes you’re looking for a more quiet get away. If you want to step away from it all while enjoying a quieter side of the island Mission Point is where you should take your next horse drawn Taxi to.
Mission Point Resort offers guests spectacular views as well as five restaurants, guest space, swimming pools and hot tubs, a full service spa, health club, 18 hole putting course, an arcade, bike rentals, a movie theater, tennis courts and a complimentary kids club. Originally Mission Point was built between 1955 and 1965 as a conference center for Moral Re-Armament (MRA). The resort has a long history of being a movie theater, film studio and the sound stage was actually used for the film Somewhere in Time. Purchased in 1977 and converted into a hotel, the property was repurchased again in 1987 and turned into the Mission Point Resort we know today.
Containing a wide variety of activities, guest scan slip away into their own bit of paradise when they get past the tourist section of the island. You can find beach themed rooms, gardens to explore and a chair on the waterfront calling your name.
Step Inside Chianti for First Class Meals
While exploring Mission Point, the property offers five different restaurants to enjoy. From basic coffee and pastries to the first class dining you can find at Chianti. A small dining venue between the main lobby and the guest room area of the resort. The white table clothes and a creative menu Chianti is on your must visit list.
No matter what your meal preference is, the staff at Chianti can handle the request. Order from the menu and try something you never expected to before or tell them your allergies and they are happy to accommodate. Start each meal with a glass of prosecco and settle in for an evening meal you will be dreaming about for months to come.
