PBS Kids Eco Friendly School Supplies

PBS Kids Eco Friendly School SuppliesWhile the kids may be heading back to school this week, that doesn’t mean we’re all ready for it. The list of supplies is huge that they need, and you know a lot of stores are already cleared out of the essentials. But on that mandatory list from the school and teachers aren’t the items we know every kid needs – a backpack, lunch bag, pencil case and more. Standard ones work, but now PBS Kids has partnered with Whole Foods to create a line of durable products that not only look good but are also eco-friendly.

PBS Kids Eco Friendly School SuppliesPBS Kids and the Whole Foods sent me a few of their new items to check out for the Back to School season. Portions of sales of each item support PBS Kids educational programming and the Whole Kids Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving children’s nutrition and wellness. With a worthy cause, eco-friendly products and bright pop colors and designs – it was hard to say no to these items. Each of the fabric items has a PBS Kids logo on it, as well as an adorable design your kids will absolutely love.

PBS Kids Eco Friendly School SuppliesThe Puppy Dog backpack we received not only has the adorable dog on the front, but inside is lined with a dog bone interior. The backpack is made out of organic cotton canvas, and looks and feels as durable as it really is. The bag is completely machine washable (for when something gets crushed at the bottom or left in the bag too long), has adjustable straps and interior and exterior pockets. Even with organic fabrics being used, the price of the backpack is only comparable to other bags on the market at only $29.99. You can even get a matching pencil bag for $7.99 that is made out of the same durable materials, and both are designed by Esperos’.

PBS Kids Eco Friendly School SuppliesDesigned out of the same eco-friendly organic cotton canvas, the butterfly lunch bag we received. The interior and bottom pocket are contrasting designs with flowers. The lunch bag, has two easy to use handles at the top, and is completely machine washable like the backpack. But it has an added bonus that I haven’t seen on other lunch bag options – a bottom pocket just for the ice pack! With a Velcro closure, the ice pack will stay securely inside the lunch bag, but wont water down their meal inside. It’s a great way to keep their lunch cold them away from the cold ice packs.

The PBS Kids and Whole Foods back to school line also includes reusable lunch bags by Lunchskins, that can be washed and used again each day. What a great way to get away from disposable plastic bags! You can also find notebooks and folders made with recycled paper and soy ink. We absolutely love the designs of the new products, the eco-friendly nature of them as well as a portion is going back to help education and healthily feed children.

To further prepare young children for back to school season, exclusive Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood content, including clips from the TV series, printable learning activities and family-friendly recipes, will be available for free at wholefoodsmarket.com.
