If you’re currently on vacation in the UK (or you’re planning to visit very soon), you should be aware that the culinary scene is actually one of the biggest draws for tourists. And no, we’re not joking around there!

The UK is home to one of the most uniquely diverse palettes found throughout the whole world, with many different cultures adding their incredible flavours to the mix of tastes that can be found on UK streets.

As such, there’s a lot you can dig into when you’re on your trip – and we recommend trying out as much of it as possible! So, here’s our guide to a few things you’ll want to eat when you’re visiting the UK.

We’ve also made sure to include some budget-friendly options for those who like to travel on a shoestring, so there’s something for everyone down below.

Try Some London Street Food

Most people who visit the UK go straight to London. They either fly into the city directly, or they take the train up or down to the capital.

And there’s no surprise that London has hundreds of Michelin Star restaurants, upmarket pubs, and permanent food markets that offer some great takeaway options for anyone passing by.

However, it’s also no surprise that London is the most expensive city in the UK! As such, it can be difficult to eat out every night, or even to grab a bite-to-go from the local Tesco Express that’s nearest to your hotel.

But there are affordable street food options within the city, so here’s a few for you to find:

  • StreetFoodish Street Food Market
  • Maltby Street Market
  • Seven Dials Market

A Classic Local Takeaway

The UK has many different takeaway restaurants you can order from, whether you’re collecting in person or you just want to use Uber to get it brought straight to the front door of your hotel.

Either way, if you want a quick bite that you know is going to be good value AND be incredibly tasty, a classic local chinese, indian, or italian diner will have the goods you’re after.

And it doesn’t matter what city or town you’re in either.

London has a variety of great eateries, but there’s quite a few tasty and affordable italian in Liverpool restaurants, incredible indian restaurants up and down Birmingham’s ‘curry mile’, and every seaside town has at least two separate fish and chips shops to grab food from.

At the Pub!

Pub food is the most classic English cuisine of all, so make sure you find a table in at least one pub while you’re on your visit.

Pub staff are often incredibly friendly, always know what the best thing to eat is, and pub food never takes too long to reach the table either.

Everyone loves good food when they’re on vacation! And if you want to know you’ll be eating good while you’re on a trip to the UK, make sure you check out food options like these!
