Easy Gluten Free Popover Recipe

gluten free popover recipe
Gluten Free PopoversI’ve always wanted to try popovers. But finding them gluten free is impossible! Besides them needing a special pan to make them, you serve them fresh out of the oven. So finding a gluten free version isn’t possible. A couple weeks ago on a trip to Ikea I found a pan that looked like it was for popovers, so I figured I’d finally give them a try! I always thought they were hard to make – but really it is extremely easy!

Special Equipment needed:

  • 4 large Eggs
  • 3 Tbsp melted Butter
  • 1 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup King Arthur Gluten Free Multi-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup White Rice Flour
  • 1/4 cup Corn starch
  • 1/4 tsp Xantham gum
  • 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
  • Vegetable oil

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Grease the inside of your popover pans with vegetable oil.
  2. Pop your pan in the oven for 5 minutes to preheat it.
  3. In a blender combine all of your ingredients (except the vegetable oil). It should take 30 seconds to a minute but the mixture should be smooth.
  4. Carefully remove your pan from the oven and pour your batter into each tin until it is 2/3rds full.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Reduce your oven’s temperature to 150 degrees. Bake an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and enjoy with butter! Slice into the top and slide some butter in and it will melt right away. Enjoy!

The recipe will make 6 large popovers, or if you’re using a smaller pan like the one from Ikea it will make 12! I like the smaller size.
