how to make chocolate covered strawberries

Easy Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Easy Chocolate Covered Strawberries
One of the greatest sweet treats someone can give you often is chocolate covered strawberries. But why pay $3-5 each for one? Did you know you could easily make a dozen or more for the same price at home? It’s so easy! My friends laughed at me in college because I always had a plate of them at any party I’d host, and well – why not?
Double Boiler

Ingredients:

  • 1 pint of fresh organic strawberries
  • 8 oz of your favorite chocolate – yes your favorite!

Directions:

  1. Using a medium stock pot and a glass bowl create a double boiler. Add water to the pan until it almost would touch the bottom of the bowl and place the bowl on top. Empty your chocolate into the bowl. If you started with a bar – cut it into small chunks first!
  2. Wash and dry your strawberries. Be sure they don’t have water on them – the chocolate wont stay!
  3. Over medium heat stir your chocolate chunks continuously until it starts to melt. Keep stirring until chocolate is smooth and shiny.
  4. Grab one of your strawberries behind the leaves and twirl it in your chocolate until well covered. Don’t spend too much time in the hot chocolate or you’ll cook your strawberries!
  5. Place your coated strawberries on a piece of wax paper set on a cookie sheet.
  6. Once all of your strawberries are coated pop them in the fridge for about 15-20 minutes to set your chocolate.

Enjoy!

  1. I like to add a bit of sugar onto the parchment that I set them on. Gives an added crunch to the bottom. I bet using raw large crystal sugar would be even better.
