Si vis pacem, para bellum
The third installment of this series delivers on the action, ramping up the blood and gore. Some of the in between scenes fall short and the use of humor in some areas is a little off the mark in some areas.
The Matrix trio continue from the last film, Reeves, Fishburne and Kim. There are some nods to the earlier trilogy, but I will leave them for you to discover.
While I enjoyed Halle Berry’s character, the role didn’t feel necessary. An easy rewrite and the story would have moved on. Unless her character was added for the next iteration in the franchise. We never know everything going on, so there could be a larger part where she can exercise her acting chops. It felt like some if her best parts were left in the cutting room.
While on the topic of a sequel, this movie is set for one, more so than the previous two. Maybe there will be a John Wick 10, this time its personal(?).
Thus far, the movies can be boiled down to one word each. In order, Hope, Duty, and Trust. I’d wager that the fourth installment will be Wrath.
It is definitely a good action movie in the same vein its predecessors, but not as good as chapter 2. I will be adding this movie to my shelf, but I will mainly be jumping to the action scenes on rewatches.
