Bloodshot Movie Review

Does Bloodshot Stand a Chance Against Other Comic Films?

When super hero movies are dominating the box offices over the past few years, when lesser known comics franchise hit the screen – do they even stand a chance? There’s not doubt that movie fans are in love with the super hero genre right now, and Marvel is dominating over DC and all of the others.

But fans of other comic book heroes have been getting the pleasure of watching their favorite heroes come to life. And the latest in the series of comic releases is Bloodshot, based on the character from Valiant Comics. The story is based around a soldier that has been technologically modified and then used to systematically take out bad guys, at the whim of his creator – unbeknownst to him.

Picking up the role of of Bloodshot is Vin Diesel, although the character’s name is never used throughout the film. Instead, the origin story takes you through his perspective of what he’s doing, his revenge journey for the loss of his wife to a lack luster reveal of what was actually going on.

With pretty epic battle scenes, a bad guy you can truly hate and Vin Diesel making Bloodshot a character you actually want to root for the movie has everything that fans of the character is looking for.

Does the movie have all of the special effects of the bigger movie houses? No, but it doesn’t need them as much. With practical special effects and some visual effects added where needed the story. The at home release of the film shows just how all of the effects are done for the film in the bonus features.

While Bloodshot may not be what fans of the MCU are used to when they go to a comic movie, it is entertaining and a fun movie to watch. Albeit a bit predictable, it is a fun way to introduce a super hero that is from another franchise.

Get your popcorn ready and have a movie with Bloodshot tonight. Bloodshot is available now on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD.
