When was the last time you played with blocks? Were they ever able to float like the ones in the picture? The blocks I had as a kid growing up were standard blocks, nothing special. But it was a test in balancing and stacking to fuel our imagination. Let me introduce you to Tegu blocks – not only can you build with them, but they can balance, move and much more.
Tegu sent me their Pocket Pouch of blocks in Jungle to review. 8 blocks that work together, play together and make a “Click Clack” noise.
What makes Tegu blocks different than regular blocks? Besides they’re beautifully handmade and stained. They are also magnetic. They aren’t made with magnets on the outside that could possibly come off -instead magnets are deep inside the wood itself. You can set two blocks next to each other and watch one shoot away if the poles are misaligned, or you can hear the “click” as they snap together.
Now you might think that that blocks are just for kids. We had a fantastic time playing with the Tegu Pocket pack. They are for ages 3 and up – but can be great for spatially minded people. It doesn’t matter what age you are, it’s fun to see the blocks interact with each other as you make shapes. You can even put them together and move the whole shape in different directions – all the while, they stay together. Our Tegu Pocket Pouch has now joined the trivia book in our road essentials. It can keep someone entertained for hours.
Besides the aesthetics and the fun product – what else makes Tegu different? They are based out of Honduras, creating jobs for an impoverished nation. They are made from locally sourced materials and they all of the trees used in the creation are re-planted. They are providing work and pride to an area where it is needed. You can see more about the company and their mission in the video below.
