The holiday season is upon us, and you can feel the excitement building in each kid. You can remember how exciting it was to walk out to the Christmas tree and see all of those presents under the tree! But we sometimes have to remind kids about the meaning of the season and that it’s not just the commercial holiday that a lot of people think it is now-a-days.
How can you remind your kids of meaning of the season and create a new holiday tradition? How about read them The Sparkle Box? The Sparkle Box is a book written by Jill Hardie and illustrated by Christine Kornacki. It’s a book for children young and old that teaches them a very important lesson about the holiday season.
The books tells the story of Sam, a young boy who’s excited for the holiday season. As it gets closer to Christmas Sam notices The Sparkle Box up on the mantle and wonders inside. He keeps asking his parents what is in the box and is told he has to wait. As Christmas gets closer, his excitement grows to find out what is in the box. What could be in the Sparkle Box? Only time can tell!
The story is genuine and moving, as the holidays approach. Sam learns important lessons for the holiday season. The characters are easy to relate to for children and the illustrations are beautiful. It is a well written story for the holiday season! And as an added bonus, the book contains it’s own Sparkle Box so you can start your own family traditions!
