Cyclebar Troy review

CycleBar Opens in Troy, Free Rides + Giveaway #cyclebarTroy

This month in Troy, the first CycleBar opens in Michigan, followed shortly by a second location in Northville. CycleBar is a work out like you’ve never experienced before. Part work out studio and part music concert, it is a work out you’ll want to go back to again and again.

Cyclebar Troy reviewI was invited to check out the new Troy location before it opened with other bloggers. I’ll admit, the last time I was on a bicycle in general was well over a decade ago, but I was willing to give it a try. CycleBar in Troy has a stadium with over 40 Schwinn bikes in three layers that you reserve ahead of time. Each bike not only has a digital read out with your tension, speed and distance but also offers two places to hold your stuff and a place to charge your phone. Like other stationary cycles you can adjust your seat height and tension as needed or to keep up during the work out. CycleBar also provides you shoes for your work out that clip into the peddles so you wont have any slipping as you ride.

Cyclebar Troy reviewOur work out session was just under an hour, and was taught by a wonderful trainer named TJ. He brought energy to the workout and encouraged us even when we didn’t always keep up. There were times that the tension was too high for me, and you could choose any of the three numbers given out by the trainer, or choose to go at your own pace. While the workout includes a leader board (shown at the beginning and end only), I found that it was a low stress situation where you can go at your own pace.

Cyclebar Troy reviewCycleBar makes sure you have a good experience and makes checking in, lockers and even getting water easy. Each guest is offered a new water bottle when they come in and there is a filling station waiting with chilled water or room temperature as well as fresh fruit for snacks. Each CycleBar location even has a signature scent made to keep the place smelling nice (and not like a sweaty gym). You will see small diffuser bottles hanging around in each location.

Cyclebar Troy reviewFor my first time cycling (and riding a bike in years), I enjoyed myself at CycleBar. I did end up aching a bit the next day, but mostly from the bike seat. But that doesn’t stop me from wanting to go back and trying again. The music selection was awesome, and the lower lights made you feel less self conscious if you’re not in the best of shape. The staff was helpful and the location in Troy is so convenient and easy to find off of Big Beaver between Rochester and Livernois. The small studio is a great place to pop into to grab a workout before work or to end the day.

  1. Awesome. I have never heard of such a thing. Since I live in Troy this is right up my alley. I haven’t been on a bike in a while either. I can’t wait to get back at it. For the time being my fav workout is Just Dance or taking a walk around the neighborhood park. With my kids going to school in the fall I’ll finally be able to check out some new places. I was considering a gym but this might be more my thing. Thanks for the review!

  2. I am SO proud of you for continuing to try new things! You go girl. Glad to hear you had a great time. You looked like you were having fun in there. Way to rock your ride and do your personal best.
