With Halloween coming we’re getting ready to have treats ready for the kids that come to the door, and of course a bag or two of extras for around the house. But during the busy holiday season, we often forget to include our furry friends when it comes to treats. In our house, I always make an effort to make sure that our cats get a treat for the holidays – sure they may not know it’s a holiday, but they’re part of our family too.
There is a big age difference in our cats, Godiva is going to be 14 this Christmas and our Jack Jack just turned 4. While their standard food is a dry food – we often supplement their diet with wet food, which both cats thing is the best treat they could have. Both of the cats have different dietary needs, but both can agree on their love of seafood when it comes to both dry and wet food.
Over the years we’ve spent a small fortune on different wet foods for the cats, but each can of food proved to be too much for them individually. That’s why we were thrilled to try out Meow Mix Simple Servings that we found at our local Meijer. Inside the 24 pack were three different types of wet food flavors including . Each package is a single serving which means I don’t need to portion out of a larger can. And with an easy to remove lid and a plastic container, I don’t need to re-plate the cat food since I don’t need to worry about sharp tin edges for them while they’re eating – but we still do on occasion 🙂
With the fall holiday season upon us, we made a fun pumpkin dining bowl for our cats for their own special Halloween treat. It’s easy to do and something your cats will love too!
What you need to make your own Pop Up Pumpkin Bowl for your Meow Mix Simple Servings:
Meow Mix Simple Servings Cat Food- Orange and Green Construction Paper
- Black Marker
- Tape
- Optional – Pumpkin Stickers
- Optional – Felt Pumpkins (for place mats)
Step 1:Â Cut Your Orange Construction Paper in a square, and fold it in half diagonally. Note – Your paper may come be rectangular to start, I measured the short side and cut the long side to fit.
Step 2: Fold one corner all towards the center and create a crease to secure it into place.
Step 3: Fold the other corner towards the center and the other side.
Step 4: Fold the top two corners down towards the center and tuck them into the folds to secure.
Step 5: Draw the stem and leafs on the green construction paper and cut them out leaving a little space on the bottom.
Step 6: Secure your stems with a small piece of tape.
Step 7: Decorate your new pumpkins! Draw a face on or decorate with stickers.
Step 8: Open up your Simple Servings and put the cup inside your pop up pumpkin and serve! Note – pushing the Meow Mix down a bit in the cup will make the cup more stable. Place on one of the felt pumpkins and serve.
Watch out – it’s so good, they may try to steal it from each other!
