Once shelved for tax reasons, and brought back after a lot of fan opposition and a new distributor taking up the charge – Coyote vs ACME is finally hitting theaters. With a mix of animation and live action, the movie has a bit of the feeling of nostalgia and is overall just a fun time to watch.
After years of failed attempts to catch the Road Runner, mostly due to the failure of ACME products – Wile E. Coyote takes it to the courts and takes on the mega corporation. In a story that oddly is reminicient to the movies own story line, Coyote vs ACME has the little guy taking on the the system, with an attempt to win. With flash backs to the animated cartoons we all grew up with, since Wile E. Coyote was first introduced to audiences in 1949, it shows just how long he’s been dealing with these bad products – although it begs to question why he keeps buying them (or where he even gets the money to).
There’s a mix of laughter, nostalgia and heart in Coyote vs ACME, but at its core it’s a pretty low stakes movie. There isn’t anything super scary, or anything offensive in the movie. But with big named cast members, cartoon characters we all know and love, it’s definitely one that is going to will win the hearts of a lot of different fans. Add in the nods to the original animator Tex Avery with one of the main characters sharing his name – the movie shows that it was lovingly made for fans with details and call backs that will make them smile along the way.
Coyote vs ACME may be one of the most suprising movies that is hitting theaters this summer. And it almost never got to see the light of day. But in a sea of action movies, horror films and movies targetted at toddlers, it’s a breath of fresh air. It’s a family movie that can truly be enjoyed by audiences of all ages and that’s something we haven’t seen in a long time. It’s genuine, fun and reminds you of movies and shows we grew up with waching.
Almost lost to the depth of the shelves of bureaucracy, Coyote vs ACME will win over audiences when it hits theaters on August 28th.

id love to see it…brings back fond memories….Ialways thought that coyote must be rich ordering all that stuff from acme….he could easily buy himself a meal ?
