Over the last few years we’ve seen a rise in the popularity of Moscow Mules, the cold drink has a bit of spice with the ginger included and served in a chilled copper mug – it’s becoming a fun and go to drink when you’re out with friends or having them over for holiday parties. There’s a bit of bite in the Moscow Mules, and they’re a quick favorite.
A couple of notes if you’re making this for yourself or friends.
- Make sure you have newer copper mugs for the drink – they are lined and safe to consume out of! They’re the best for a Recipe Moscow Mule, or your own drink of choice.
- For Gluten Free Moscow Mules, find Hollows and Fentimans for a gluten free Ginger Beer. If you use another brand let us know what it is!
Ingredients:
- 2 oz premium Vodka
- 2 Tbsp fresh Lime Juice
- Ginger beer (enough to top off mug)
- 2 tsp ginger simple syrup (recipe below), or to taste
- Fresh mint sprigs, to garnish
- Lime wedges, to garnish
Ginger Simple Syrup
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 3” fresh Ginger, peeled and cut into small pieces
Directions:
- In a small sauce pan add your sugar and water and add your ginger pieces to the pan. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer approximately 20 minutes until all of the sugar is dissolved and the syrup is clear (it may have a slight color from the ginger but it shouldn’t be much). Remove from the heat and set allow to cool to room temperature.
- Fill your cups with ice, add in your vodka and lime juice. Top your drink with your ginger beer and add in a dash of your simple syrup. Stir to combine and top with min and a wedge of lime. Enjoy!
