Candy Corn Popcorn Balls
I’m going to be honest, this is the first time I’ve made popcorn balls. They were always something my grandmother’s friend gave us as kids, but nothing that I every thought to make. I’ve heard horror stories about burning your hands, it being hard to get them right. But then I received a kit Good Cook tools to make popcorn balls I had to get started.

Good Cook tools

In our Popcorn Baller kit were bowls, pans, candy thermometers, spatulas, and popcorn ballers all from Good Cook. We also received a coupon for a box of Jolly Time Popcorn to make our creations.

I received two popcorn ballers in my kit, a round and a football shaped one. Since we’re not huge sports fans my idea was to make candy corn shaped candy corn popcorn balls! They didn’t turn out 100% candy corn shaped when I was done, but they are delicious!

Now to get Popcorn-Balling! This will make 4 large popcorn balls!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of Jolly Time Smart Balance Butter Light Popcorn
  • 4 oz Butter (1/2 cup)
  • 4 cups mini Marshmallows
  • 1 cup Candy Corn
  • 8 oz White Chocolate Chips
  • Yellow Food Coloring

Step 1:  Pop your Popcorn according to your microwave directions. Use the popcorn button if you have one. You can use any microwaveable popcorn you want for this recipe. I used the Jolly Time Smart Balance because we’re going to be adding more butter later!

Dump your popcorn into a large bowl and let it cool completely.

Step 2:  In a medium microwave safe bowl in the microwave melt your butter. This will be about 45 seconds in most microwaves.

Add in your 4 cups of marshmallows to the bowl and microwave on medium in 30 second increments until your marshmallows are mostly melted. They wont look completely melted but they will stir easily.

Step 3:  Add your candy corn to the large bowl with the popcorn. Pour your marshmallow and butter mixture over top. Stir until everything is combined. Let it sit for about a minute before you start forming balls.

Step 4: Use your popcorn baller base to scoop up your mixture and the top to press it into the shape you want. Use a little bit of pressure to get firmly packed popcorn balls. You can use the little cutout in the bottom to push them out if it gets stuck.*

Place your completed popcorn balls on a cookie sheet until they’re completely set.

*You can spray the inside of the baller with cooking spray for an easier release. I didn’t spray mine and had no problem removing my popcorn balls!

To make Candy Corn Shaped Candy Corn Popcorn Balls:

Step 5: Once your football shaped popcorn balls are set, use a large knife and cut them in half the short way. Use a sawing motion, you will need to get through some of the candy inside. Set them aside.

Step 6: Put your white chocolate chips in a glass bowl and pop it into the microwave. Heat it on medium heat in 30 second increments. Mix in between, when your chocolate is smooth it’s ready to go! You can also do the old fashion double boiler method if you want, but the microwave is a great alternative!

Step 7: Dip the point of each football end into the white chocolate until coated. Set them cut side down onto parchment paper.

Step 8: In your remaining chocolate add a few drops of yellow food coloring. Mix quickly before you chocolate seizes. Dip the cut size of each candy corn into the yellow (white) chocolate. Set them back on the parchment paper until set.
