There are a lot of different things our families do every year for the holidays, but sometimes it’s more than just the turkey that ties us together. Every year as we help in the kitchen, our family tunes into the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It’s been a tradition since I was a kid, and this year will be no different, it’s one of those great parts of the holiday that we love and the family time together.
We’re usually up early and in the kitchen to prep the big family dinner. But we know that at 9 am we will be turning on NBC to watch the opening of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year there is a new opening with an all-star ensemble cast of celebrities from pop culture, stage and TV all singing and dancing together in an epic performance of Dancin’ in The Street! Also, as part of our first hour of festivities Gwen Stefani will perform White Christmas at the Bryant Park ice rink surrounded by fans and skaters.
Let’s not forget that you can see your favorite floats, balloons and even Santa on display. It’s the start of the holiday season and the magic that your family can have together. It’s the official kick off and a great way to spend time with your loved ones. We love watching the this parade every Thanksgiving and it’s one that multiple generations can remember watching together, and we’re so glad Macy’s is still putting it on.
If you’re helping in the kitchen, or just waiting for that delicious meal to be served. Grab a glass of hot cocoa and a warm blanket and tune in at 9 am next Thursday to watch a family favorite parade, or start a new tradition with your family this year!
