When I was a kid toys were pretty straight forward. There of course were some with electronic components, but nothing like what kids have today. When I was checking out some of the new toys this summer, TOMY was highlighting their new Battroborg Warrior Battle Set, it’s a high tech toy that reminds me of one from my childhood.

TOMY sent us a Battroborg Warrior Battle Set to play with and review. It is for ages 6 and up, and thankfully that up doesn’t have a limit. Â As soon as it came in, I knew that it was going to be a toy that all the younger kids might get a chance to play with – once the adults were done.

The Battroborg Warrior Battle Set comes with two different warriors to choose from – a Samurai or a Ninja. Both Warriors come with their own weapon and different mask options so you can customize your warrior. Other parts of their armor easily snap on and off so you can change them compeltely to your taste. Â But the set also comes with the battle stage and two katana controllers so you can control them as you fight to see who will win the battle! The controllers take 4 AA batteries each, and that might be the only down side to the set. But once they’re in there, you have several days of battle and play ahead of you.

Besides the customize-able features the Battroborg set has, I love how you actually get your warriors to fight. Swing your katana through the air and your warrior will do the same thing. It’s a great way to play and get a work out at the same time. Each katana has a switch for A and B so you can tune them to your warrior, and you don’t have to figure out which controller goes with which character. They work up to 3 feet away and will. The controllers are also what care used to charge up your characters. This way they can fight, slice and skate around the battle stage with ease. Swing your katana around and watch your warrior battle away the afternoon!

Both warriors are actually on wheeled bases, so they will move easily on the flat battle base. Their movements are quick and responsive and they’re both ready to fight.
While the Battroborg Warriors are pretty high tech and work together with high tech options, I can’t help but be reminded of the Rock em Sock Em Robots I grew up with. But the difference are huge and theses are the perfect toy for kids to have a similar experience with their own bots to battle with!
The Battroborg Warriors Battle Set is available at Toys R Us, Walmart, Target and on Amazon.

My favorite feature of the Battroborg Warrior Battle Set is how they move when you move through a controller. I’ve purchased many sets where they move by pushing buttons in the back but the wireless movements make it a unique and up to date. The interchangeable armor and weapons keeps the play fresh.
