3 Very Useful Things To Have While Camping That You May Not Think Of

Camping can be fun, but it can also be a miserable time with all the dirt, sand, bugs, and so on. If you prepare for your camping trip the right way and take things that you have never considered, you will find that your camping experience will go a lot better. Since I have been camping so many times, I have learned a few tricks along the way. And not everything in our camping gear is something we buy at the sporting goods store.

Plastic Totes

Plastic totes are a must if you are camping where wildlife is present. The plastic totes are good for placing your food in to keep the raccoons out. Raccoons are very clever and can tear into many things to get food. The one way we found to keep them out was to put our food in a tote and place a block on top of the lid because they can open the lid.

So, make sure you put something really heavy on the lid. Also, don’t pile blankets or light items on the top, because they will simply push that off to open the lid. Yes, they are that smart! They are also good to keep clothes and other stuff in that you don’t want to get wet. You never know when it might rain.

Broom, Rugs, Dust Pan, Handheld Vacuum

No matter how hard you try, you simply can’t keep all of the dirt out of the tent when you are camping. And it is very miserable to sleep in a tent full of dirt. That’s why we always take rugs to put at the opening of the tent.

It helps cut down on some of the dirt, but you will still get some in the tent. So, take a broom and dustpan with you to keep the tent swept out. If you have a handheld vacuum, that’s even better for the dirt in the tent.

Plastic Tarp

I can’t tell you how many times we have been camping and it rained. Just a little bit of rain can ruin your whole camping experience when your tent is wet, your clothes are wet, and everything else that shouldn’t be wet is wet!

Well, we started taking a large plastic tarp with us and using the trees to tie it in. We would place the tent under the tarp along with all of our belongings. So when it did rain, everything wasn’t ruined. Spend the money to invest in a large tarp, it is well worth it.
