3 Plumbing Fixes You Can Do Without Calling a Plumber

3 Plumbing Fixes You Can Do Without Calling a PlumberIt doesn’t matter how old your house is, we all have to do maintenance to keep things running smoothly. Sometimes you have to call in a professional, but a lot of the time there are small things you can do to fix your plumbing issues. Limestone Country Property Management in Cibolo warns there are a lot of things that can go wrong with your plumbing and drains, and here are three of the biggest plumbing issues you can easily fix yourself.

Bathroom Sinks

3 Plumbing Fixes You Can Do Without Calling a PlumberThis is a constant battle for me, my bathroom sink always gets clogged. I’m not sure what exactly is getting in there, other than there is a bracelet charm trapped in the drain. But every couple of months it begins to slow down and the unseen clog makes it take forever to drain. I’ve noticed whenever it slows down, I can hear a dripping where the pipes connect in the cupboard.

Tubs

After two years with my own bathroom in this house, I will officially admit that it’s most likely my hair that causing the back up in my tub. As much as I can try to blame my boyfriend, since he never uses my shower it’s pretty hard to do! A couple of times of year I have to remove any hair that the trap doesn’t block and run some drain cleaner through it. Not only does this help clear any blockages in the pipe, but but it stops me from having to stand in a few inches of water while I wait for someone to come by and fix it.

Kitchen Sinks

If there is no problem there, and I can fix the clog in no time. My kitchen is where I spend the majority of my time, and having a working sink is important to me. Again, the easiest fix is right under the sink!

Thankfully, all of these are easy fixes for me. I can just grab my Roto-Rooter drain gel and pour it in. After waiting 10 minutes, just turn on the hot water and everything moves quicker. For each clog, I only used half of a bottle of the Roto-Rooter products. If the clog is bad, I can run it through again. Using Roto-Rooter has saved me from having to call a plumber several times and it’s a great to keep around for that next clog. It’s the one tool that helps keep our pipes clear without having to call a plumber.
