There are a lot of reasons you may want to work at home, from controlling your own schedule, disabilities or even children still being at home. I’ll be honest, working at home isn’t for everyone – it isn’t as easy as sitting in your pajamas in front of the television all day typing – or can it be? In the past decade, the growth of the blogging industry has gone from personal journals to a real source of income and even professional opportunities.
I’m not going to sugar coat it and say that every day blogging is glorious and it is easy to do – the reality is, once you cross the barrier from hobby blogger to professional it requires work, money and organization to make your own business run. But the hard work you put in definitely has its rewards, and in my opinion blogging is one of the best stay at home jobs you can have.
On the outside, blogging can be perceived in two ways – glamorous with all of trips, review items and events you go to. But each item that comes in requires hours of work from photography, research, testing and then writing. Every event requires reporting and social media. You have to manage your social channels and brand image, your website and software that is required to get it going. And at the same time, you have people who think that you get everything free and do it all just for free stuff. It is quite a bit of work that goes into each and every post on a website, from the free printables you share to full reviews and even recipe development.
Even with the amount of work that goes into running a blog, it is a job that can be done at home. From the opportunities blogging opens up to you, the experience and world it opens up and people you meet – the rewards are endless. Yes, you can make a full time income while blogging from your couch as well – but it does require a delicate balance of time management and dedication.
I can’t promise that blogging will always be easy, but the rewards are well worth the effort you put into it. If you’re looking to start your own blog – start doing research now.
