Do you remember your first locker? I don’t remember that one specifically but I do remember a lot of my locker years. The general appearance of my locker was messy, with papers and books thrown wherever they would fit, my softball bag and flute were stuffed in there somewhere and occasionally I was able to fit a coat. A disaster was a good way to describe my locker.
Flash forward to my daughter’s first locker as a sixth grader. It probably would be a disaster if she didn’t have any help. We were sent a gift card from Lionsgate to help re-do her Middle School locker in celebration of Middle School: The Worst Years of my Life. Keep reading how you can win a gift card so your child can do a locker make over too!
Did you know that you can buy a whole line of locker accessories that are made to give your locker a high design and functional feel? I admit that I had no idea until recently. You can buy everything from a mirror and whiteboard to an extra shelf and get this, a locker chandelier. The options and pretty amazing and with a little bit of planning your kids can create a more functional locker space.
Let’s go back to my daughter’s locker. To help her out, I got her a fun new locker shelf to use at the bottom of her locker, a kit that contains that standard white board, mirror, and writing utensil cub, and to give her some high design, a motion sensor light to brighten her locker every time she opens it. She loves the added flair and has
told me a few times already (it’s only been a couple of days) that her friends are jealous of her locker! And she loves the extra space to work with.
Can you imagine your locker with all these cool accessories? I probably would have loved them for a while, but anything that could have helped with that mess would be appreciated. Kids today have access to so many cool things that I did not have and in a way I am a bit jealous, but I am also super excited that they get to have these experiences.
About Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life:
MIDDLE SCHOOL: THE WORST YEARS OF MY LIFE: Rafe has an epic imagination…and a slight problem with authority. Both collide when he transfers to an oppressive, rule-crazy middle school. Drowning in do’s and don’ts, Rafe and his scheming best friend Leo hatch a plan to break every rule in the school’s Code of Conduct. It’s Ferris Bueller meets Home Alone as their battle with Principal Dwight explodes into chaos both real and imagined. But Dwight displays his own fiendish creativity, striking back at the rulebreakers. Meanwhile, Rafe struggles to hide his misbehavior from Jeanne, the straight-A, overachieving girl of his dreams, and at home, his mother’s boyfriend — a moochy, jack-of-no-trades named Bear — threatens to become his stepfather.
