I’m always in the kitchen, but there are a few drawbacks to living in an old house. We don’t have a dishwasher, or a garbage disposal and we definitely don’t have a lot of counter space! Since we are still looking for our a new place, so updating things in the kitchen isn’t really an option.
Their Stowable Kitchen Island comes in one box, and inside is everything you need to get started. The island is completely assembled in the box, so it is rather large when it is delivered. It also has four soft caster that you have to attach, but it comes with a hand wrench to tighten them table
Within a about 15 minutes your kitchen island is assembled. There are a couple quick notes when you assemble your island. Under the rolled bottom edge of the island are cut metal. The island is stainless steel, so there will be sharp edges. Be careful not to cut yourself. Also, two of the four wheels have a locking mechanism – be sure to put them on the same side! Trust me, it’ll make it a lot easier when you using the island in the kitchen.
With all of the other great features of the Stowable Kitchen Island, my favorite is it’s size. The top measures 24″ x 30″, which give me another 5 square feet of counter space to work on! From extra space for cooling cookies, to extra space for another appliance. But when I’m done, I just unlatch the sides and the whole island folds down to 3 inches thick. I can slide it into the storage area without worrying about it being a permanent fixture in my kitchen.
The Hammacher Schlemmer Stowable Kitchen island is the perfect addition for your holiday baking schedules. When the baking is done, it can also be used as a folding table, for gardening or even working on crafts. It’s a great addition to your kitchen and household.
