Even though I work at home, it seems I’m always traveling and on the go. Because I tend to bring a lot of technology with me when I travel, I like to make sure it’s safe while I’m running through airports. This past year has meant trips to each end of the country and around 14 flights that I never want to check my bags, and to make sure I had everything I needed on hand Travelon sent me their Anti-Theft Classic Light Backpack and Anti-Theft Classic Light Sling to help with my travels and review.
Both the Classic Light Backpack and Classic Light Sling have padded straps, places for water bottles and of course anti-cut straps, so a thief can’t take it from you while you’re on the go by cutting the straps. While each bag has similar features built in, they both have their unique qualities that make them great for travel.
The Classic Light Sling has a lot of space packed inside. I tend to use this as my camera bag while I’m traveling. I remove the double lens insert from my camera bag and slide it into the base. Not only does it hold both of my lenses, but my camera, tablet, paperwork and several other things. Inside there are multiple pockets as well as an RFID sleeve for your ID. But probably one of my favorite features of the Classic Light Sling is the simple locking of the of the zipper with a clip that tucks away and out of sight.
While you can load the Classic Light Sling up with a ton of items and weight, keep in mind that every product has its limits. If you put too much in the sling, the zipper will split. This can be a tad annoying, but all you have to do to fix it is run the zipper pulls over it again. I never had this happen while going through the airport, but once or twice while at a conference.
Inside the Classic Light Sling you’ll find every thing considered for storage, but also use. There’s even a strap to attach your keys with a light so you can find everything when you need it. The Classic Light Sling is always on the go with me, and is a great travel camera bag. The single arm strap means it’s easy to turn around and grab things on the go, and the soft padding makes it so the weight is evenly distributed.
When I’m traveling, even an overnight trip in state, more often than not I grab the Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Light Backpack as my go to bag. It’s more than twice the size of the Classic light Sling, fits a 15 inch laptop, still boasts the water bottle spot as well as spaces for your folders and any other paperwork. The Classic Light backpack can be used for travel, or business. It is loaded with organization inside, has the key strap and even has it’s own RFID card slot.
While the Classic Light Backpack is larger than the Classic Light sling, it is still probably half the size of a traditional backpack. It will hold enough for a short weekend trip – but longer trips may not fit inside. But traditional backpacks aren’t made for travel or security. And they also don’t have a hidden pocket to stash your travel documents.
There are two things I absolutely love about the Classic Light Backpack, the first is a simple addition of a carabiner clip on the side of the bag. I use it to attach additional water bottles or bags and they stay secure while I send them through TSA check points and through the airport.
The second item is just an added luxury is the padding on the back of the Classic Light Backpack. I tend to over, pack inside the Classic Light Backpack, and the padding makes carrying around the heavy bag easy without any added strain on my shoulders or back. Unlike the smaller Classic Light Sling, the backpack can hold several pounds of technology, some clothing and other items and I never had an issue with the zipper. It is easy to carry around, and much smaller than most bags for traveling.
Both the Classic Light Backpack and the Classic Light Sling stow easily under a plane seat, making it easier to grab and go without fighting with any overhead bins. The security features, attention to detail and function make the Travelon Classic Light Backpack and Classic Light Sling perfect for someone on the go.
