Taking your kids to the theater is an experience of its own, and you don’t want to take them to a movie that is full of age inappropriate scenes. Finding a family friendly film your kids will enjoy, and wont drive you nuts can be hard to do. But this fall, DreamWorks has released one that hits the nail on the head – Trolls. Parents may have that nostalgic moment thinking back to the troll dolls we all played with kids, but the new release is full of laughter, a friendly story and a soundtrack you’re going to love.
We were invited to a sneak preview of Trolls, and went in not knowing much about the movie except a couple songs that have already hit the radio. The theater was filled with families and small children as young as toddlers. Trolls takes you on adventure with Princess Poppy, a troll who is on a quest to save her friends from the Bergens – ugly monsters who think the only way to be happy is to eat a troll. With the reluctant help of Branch, a troll who reuses to sing and hug, Poppy leaves the safety of the troll village to head to the Bergen castle to find her friends.
With bright colors, fuzzy trolls, and a touch of scrap-booking, Trolls is a really cute movie. Compared to previous DreamWorks films, the movie seems to be targeted to a much younger audience. It does however, have moments that will have parents laughing and smiling. The all star cast, with killer singing voices, includes Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, James Corden and Gwen Stefani, who bring updated versions to songs we know and love. If anything, parents will love singing along with the soundtrack and characters in the film.
From the creators of Shrek comes the most smart, funny, irreverent animated comedy of the year, DreamWorks’ Trolls. This holiday season, enter a colorful, wondrous world populated by hilariously unforgettable characters and discover the story of the overly optimistic Trolls, with a constant song on their lips, and the comically pessimistic Bergens, who are only happy when they have trolls in their stomach. Featuring original music from Justin Timberlake, the film stars the voice talents of Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Russell Brand, Zooey Deschanel, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, James Corden, Kunal Nayyar, Ron Funches, Icona Pop, Quvenzhané Wallis, with John Cleese and Gwen Stefani.
