We’ve all heard the famous saying “Diamonds are a girls best friend”. It may be one of the best marketing plans any company has ever come with. And don’t get me wrong, diamonds are beautiful and they make up some of my favorite jewelry – but it’s in the kitchen where I really love them. I’m talking about a diamond coated pan, that gives you a non-stick cooking surface like nothing you’ve ever experienced before.
Swiss Diamond sent me one of their NonStick 5 qt Square Casserole with Lid to review. The pan is costs more than any pan currently in my cupboard. But the sound cast aluminum construction and the special coating the pan comes with.

The casserole pan can be used on Gas, Electric, Radiant Ring, Ceramic, Halogen cooking surfaces and while it’s Dishwasher Safe, it is recommended you hand wash the pan. As almost an added bonus, the pan is oven safe up to 500 degrees, making it perfect to go from stove top to oven for your favorite recipes. Cooking with diamonds may seem a bit odd to some people, but it is a great conductor of heat and naturally non-stick.
The larger size of the 5 Quart Square Casserole makes it perfect for making big meals for your family, and the construction means that nothing will burn in the corners. Marked with the Swiss Diamond cross on the lid and the handles, the pan is simply beautiful when in use and washes quickly with the swipe of a sponge. The knob on top of the lid is strong enough to lift the heat tempered glass, but also swivels to open and vent while you’re cooking.
When I used the Swiss Diamond 5 Quart Square Casserole for the first time I was shocked at how easy it was to brown the meat in the pan without any additional oils. Even making chicken patties only required a small amount of oil in the pan. Everything lifted off easily and flipped even easier. Nothing stuck in the pan even after baking for almost an hour. I am honestly amazed how evenly everything cooked and cleaned up afterwards. The venting lid makes it ideal for long braising recipes, and the temperature rating makes this pan perfect for pretty much every recipe in my arsenal.
