Grandma's Gluten Free Desserts

The holidays are full of parties and entertaining. If you’re like me, and have a major food allergy sometimes it’s hard to attend the big gatherings. You have to bring your own food, bring a small side portion for you so that your food doesn’t get contaminated, and you can forget about having desserts. It’s normal for me to eat before going to any holiday gathering just to make sure I wont starve through it. Another option is to host the party yourself – but that can get expensive and time consuming.

This holiday season if you’re looking for a quick way to get beautiful desserts for your party, or to send to guests – then you just need to look at My Grandma’s of New England.

Grandma's Gluten Free Desserts

My Grandma’s is based out of Massachusetts, and is well known for their coffee cakes. You can find kosher, nut free, dairy free and even gluten free treats on their site.

Their gluten free selection features biscotti, coconut macaroons, brownies, Congo bars, and oatmeal raisin cookies. And their Gluten free sampler includes two of each! My Grandma’s was nice enough to send me their gluten free sampler to review.

When the sampler first arrived the first thing I noticed was the large “My Grandma’s of New England Gluten Free” label on the top of the box. I was immediately excited to open the box. A box full of gluten free snacks just for me (that doesn’t happen too often!)

I decided to try out two of the products, and was even nice enough to share! I brought him a coconut macaroon in the brownie. He doesn’t have to be gluten free but is use to eating gluten free so I was interested in his opinion of the products too. I tried the oatmeal raisin cookie and Congo bar.

The baked goods were all delicious. My favorite – the Congo Bar, a mixture of coconut, chocolate, walnuts and marshmallows. What’s not to love? The brownies tasted like brownies, and the biscotti were crisp and not too hard! They were a perfect treat around our house – and sadly the box full was gone in a matter of days (someone else kept getting in them!) I know who I will be ordering treats for the holiday from – and it’s nice to know I can find some for several allergies or food restrictions. It will make this holiday season’s entertaining a lot easier.

  1. Oh my – your description of the Congo Bar – caused my mouth to water – seriously.
I am always looking for good gluten free baked goods, and usually come up short. ‘fresh’ baked is hard to come by.
    Yum!

  2. which would I like to try the most? I would have to say the first bite of each one. It’s been so long since I’ve had any of these things. They all sound very good!
