Carhartt Wreath Charity

When it comes to giving back to our city, I love to help any way I can. While I was attending the tour of Hantz Woodlands in Detroit in October, we were told about a great way to give back this year. Carhartt, that was founded in Detroit in 1889, has paired with Southeastern High School in Detroit to help give back to the children in the area.

Carhartt Wreath CharityIntertwine Industries is a company the students at Southeastern High School created for this project. The students work together to remove the grape vines from local fences and to help clean up the blight in their neighborhoods. The vines are then woven together to create unique hand made wreathes by the students. The company and project help the students learn new skills and value in their neighborhood.

The wreathes the students create are being sold exclusively at the new Carhartt location in the Midtown area (5800 Cass Ave), and can be picked up in the store for only $5. We visited the store this weekend to get our own wreathes, and give back to the students. 100% of the proceeds from each purchase go to the students who created the wreathes, and help them fund future projects and kick start their own micro-business.

We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the wreathes for only $5 – since others at stores cost $20-30 and are mass produced. And the wreathes can be displayed inside or outside. We absolutely love the fact that our purchase is helping students grow and build their dreams, and hopes for a better future. Your purchase can do the same! Carhartt is participating in this year’s Noel Night celebration and will be open until 10 PM on the 5th. It’s a great time to swing in and get your own wreath, and give back to the hard work the students are doing!
